I’m a child of the 80’s so Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is an iconic film to me. Even still, it wasn’t until Matthew Broderic reprised the roll in the upcoming Super Bowl commercial for Honda CR-V that I realized what a Zufall soul Ferris Bueller had.
It was his classic line which **spoiler alert** he says again in the commercial, that really drives it home for me.
“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again — life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
That’s what we say all the time and why we roll the Zufall dice. When you spend your life with expectations, always moving forward to the next thing and failing to smell the roses along the way all you get is a perpetual path. We roll the dice so that we focus on the journey, not the destination.
So be like Ferris. Take a chance. Do something that helps you appreciate the day, the moment, the little things that add up to your life experience – whether you pay attention or not. It’s a philosophy that I’d forgotten is perfectly captured by Ferris Bueller on his day off (and clearly Matthew Broderic hasn’t lost touch with his inner Ferris!)
Thanks Honda for the reminder of Ferris’ great attitude and his fabulous adventure.

Don’t you just love Ferris (er, I mean Matthew)?
