I can’t imagine trying to put a colour to the concept of spontaneity. Which is why it’s best to leave it to the professionals. Pantone (the professional designer’s go-to resource for identifying colour) has created not just one colour but an entire palette of colours for spontaneity. These colours are meant to inspire impulsive buys, last-minute decision making and fun. The individual colours are called: Winsome Orchid, Sunkist coral, Misty Jade, Cantaloupe, Marigold, Hyacinth, Violet Quarts and Kelly Green.

What do you think – is this the rainbow of spontaneity? Does it make you feel more spontaneous?

I don’t know if it’s going to make me start buying things impulsively but it certainly inspires happiness – so they’ve managed to channel something of spontaneity!

Last month, Travel+Leisure magazine ran a series of stories about the joys of getting lost (Let’s Get Lost).  It was such a pleasure to see a magazine that so often prescribes the perfect vacation via the best shops, most luxurious hotels and hottest travel trends to embrace that which undoes all of the above.
